About the partnership...
WHO WE ARE
The ESCAP-ADB-UNDP Asia-Pacific SDG Partnership is a knowledge collaboration based on the common interest to eradicate poverty and achieve inclusive growth and sustainable development in Asia and the Pacific.
Having collaborated on a wide range of issues, including the Millennium Development Goals, the partners have created a platform for delivering knowledge and data to support effective implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in the Asia-Pacific region. Each year, the partnership publishes an annual thematic report which explores implementation of the 2030 Agenda. The Partnership also supports regional dialogue at the Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD) in preparation for the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF).
OUR MISSION
The Partners are committed to collaborative efforts towards the achievement of the SDGs through the following objectives:
- Creating a platform for forging the voices of Asia-Pacific stakeholders including government representatives, development practitioners, academia, civil society, and the private sector on the SDGs
- Promoting high-quality knowledge-based SDG policy dialogue, SDG implementation and progress knowledge generation across national, subregional and regional levels
The Partners meet these objectives through three main activities:
Knowledge products: the Partnership annually produces and disseminates the SDG Partnership Report which takes stock of regional challenges, innovations, and solutions to help developing countries in the region in their journey to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. The themes of the annual reports have been aligned with the themes of the High-Level Political Forum for Sustainable Development. The Report makes use of SDG data to provide evidence-based policy recommendations and highlight good practices and initiatives within the Asia-Pacific region.
Regional dialogues: to strengthen regional collaboration and partnerships, the Partnership contributes to high-level policy dialogues at subregional, regional and global levels on diagnosing and addressing regional challenges in relation to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The ESCAP Subregional Forums, the Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development and the High-Level Political Forum are the main platforms where the Partnership engages to promote perspectives and SDG success stories from the region.
Data portal: to promote and enhance data monitoring, the Data Portal provides snapshots of SDG progress and analysis across regional, subregional and country levels. View country SDG Profiles and explore indicator trends, priorities and data availability or visit the country comparison tool to compare countries SDG progress across Goal, indicators, and by disaggregation. Explore more than 1000 datasets on the SDG and other thematic development indicators for the Asia-Pacific region via the SDG Data Explorer. Discover more on regional progress, stories behind data, and bridging data gaps in the Asia-Pacific SDG Progress Report.
HOW WE ENGAGE STAKEHOLDERS
The Partnership aims to promote inclusiveness in its work. Consultations and expert group meetings are conducted with policy and thematic experts to provide technical analyses which help to inform the development of the SDG Partnership Report. The Partnership also values the perspectives and experience of government representatives, development practitioners, regional networks, think tanks, academia, civil society, the private sector and other regional stakeholders, and works to include diverse groups working towards the SDGs in various forums and side events at the subregional, regional and global levels.
