Urban slum population trends, by region and subregion, 1990–2014

Slum populations and transient or migrant populations form a major part of the urban poor community. Although the proportion of the overall population that resides in urban slums is smaller than it was two decades ago, the absolute number generally continues to rise in all the developing regions except Latin America and the Caribbean.
