This figure shows the effects of energy price fluctuations on the GDP of the four most oil dependent countries in Central Asia. While not all Central Asian economies are energy exporters, energy importers such as Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan are dependent on remittances, mostly from the Russian Federation. Since the Russian Federation is also reliant on fuel exports and revenues, reductions in oil prices led to declining remittances in non-energy-exporting countries in Central Asia.
