Report Launch | The 2024 Asia-Pacific SDG Partnership Thematic Report: People and Planet: Addressing the Interlinked Challenges of Climate Change, Poverty and Hunger in Asia and the Pacific
Description
Against the backdrop of compounding crises such as climate change, the COVID-19 pandemic and the recent cost-of-living crisis, the 2024 SDG Partnership Report delves into the multifaceted relationship between climate change, poverty and hunger. Building on the insights from the 2023 SDG Partnership Report ‘Delivering on the SDGs through Solutions at the Energy, Food and Finance Nexus’, the 2024 SDG Partnership Report examines how overlapping, interconnected crises and the multiplier effect of the climate crisis, exacerbate inequalities across many dimensions beyond income, increasing the vulnerability of individuals to threats such as food insecurity, malnutrition, hunger and enduring poverty. Cognisant of the need for nexus thinking, the Report highlights synergistic good practices and solutions within the context of climate action, poverty reduction and hunger to encourage their upscaling and replication throughout the region. The Report also identifies actionable policy recommendations to leverage opportunities to advance the SDGs.
