Eradicating Poverty and Promoting Prosperity in a Changing Asia-Pacific

Eradicating poverty and promoting prosperity in a changing Asia-Pacific is the thematic report of the Asia-Pacific SDG Partnership for 2017. Addressing the theme of the 2017 session of the high-level political forum on sustainable development, it supports regional and global dialogue on sustainable development – as well as national and regional implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development provides a new framework that allows us to approach poverty and prosperity more holistically. This holistic understanding should inform national implementation planning efforts and regional cooperation initiatives. With its focus on “Eradicating poverty and promoting prosperity in a changing world”, this report emphasizes how policy coherence is critical and how a multidimensional understanding of poverty and prosperity is foundational to that coherence. It also offers insights into how policy coherence through the SDGs can create opportunities for making progress on the subset of goals that are the focus of the 2017 session of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development.
